EDWIN continues to create jeans.

1947 Tsunemi Yonehachi store is established. Begins the wholesale of U.S. military surplus clothing. Becomes the first in Japan to import used jeans.
1960s From work clothes to jeans. Passion towards denim inspired the creation of EDWIN.
1961 Imports denim from the U.S. and begins the production of jeans in Japan. EDWIN is born.
(The name is an anagram for denim. It represents the company's creative spirit).
1963 Develops the Rainbow Selvage Village Denim using Peru's Tangu¨is cotton and the 359BF prototype is released. To make jeans more comfortable to wear than those imported from the U.S., develops the One Wash process. The process, which made jeans comfortably to wear, subsequently becomes an essential process in jeans-making.
1964 Releases colored jeans in 25 variations.
1965 Releases the 1051GM straight-cut.
1969 Releases the button up flair and dungaree shirt (EDWIN invented the name, Dungaree Shirt).
1970s Jeans are produced in various styles and the history of vintage processing begins.
1972 Releases Strong Jeans in patchwork denim.
1973 Develops a silhouette for women. Releases Ladies' EDWIN.
1974 Releases 18 designs of baggy jeans and work wear.
1975 Develops Old Wash, vintage-look jeans, which recreate details unique to vintage jeans.
Gains tremendous popularity. Launches Little EDWIN for children. Releases flannel shirts in 72 colors.
1979 Releases SOMETHING, the world's first jeans brand for women.
1980s Begins sales in Europe and the U.S. Develops Stone Wash and EDWIN's comfortable fitting jeans are introduced to the world.
1981 Developes Stone Wash made possible by using stones in the manufacturing process.
The natural vintage feel it gives is incorporated into the latest world fashion and it becomes a world standard.
Starts developing silhouettes that fit the body shapes of the people throughout the world.
EDWIN is recognized by the world with the release of London Slim(tight slim) in Europe.
1982 EDWIN International is established. Starts selling products in the U.S.
1983 EDWIN achieves top sales of jeans in Japan, which has continued to achieve to this day.
Releases the American Basic line; straight jeans with a moderate hip seam and wrinkle free features.
The International Basic Series (London Slim) is simultaneously released worldwide.
1987 Obtains the manufacturing and distribution license for Lee in Japan.
1988 Releases Italian Slim and French Slim simultaneously worldwide.
1989 Releases comfort fit [Ross] in Europe.
1990s Authentic feel and comfort are created in the pursuit of creating a real vintage feel. EDWIN 503 (European line: WIN) and EDWIN 505 (European line: SEN) are released.
1990 Acquires the worldwide trademark of the Italian brand, "Fiorucci".
Releases the Frontier Series; vintage-like jeans made using uneven threads.
1991 Developes Retro Denim; a new material that gives a natural draping effect.
Releases EDWIN Frontier F-51 and F-53.
1992 Releases the well-received European line [Ross] in Japan.
1994 eleases Soft Jeans; jeans made from rayon that feel soft to wear. Brings the fun of new jeans to people of all age groups.
Releases New Vintage EDWIN 505 (selvage denim). The series of vintage-look jeans that are neither replicas nor retro provide ideas for new styling and values along with Used X, which recreates an authentic vintage-feel in very realistic way.
1995 Releases New vintage 101F; boot-cut jeans.
Announces the new concept Workwear 101W at the end of the year.
1996 Revives the Old Wash from 1963 and 359BF.
Releases the special edition of EDWIN 505; EDWIN 505SX.
1997 Releases the EDWIN 503 Series; the ultimate basic jeans invented by making repeated improvements to Frontier EDWIN 503.
1999 Launches the "ViENUS JEAN" collection; the stretch jeans series of SOMETHING inspired by women's beautiful legs.
2000s Brings new possibilities and wonderment to jeans in the new century. The history of creation continues.
2000 Launches "E-function", which incorporates new functions to jeans such as a cell-phone pocket and draping.
2001 Developes jeans made using ZYLON®; a fiber that is durable and fire-resistant.
Acquires the manufacturing and distribution license for Wrangler in Japan.
Exhibits at the international jeans exhibition, BREAD & BUTTER for the first time by invitation.
2002 SEN (overseas version of EDWIN 505) makes a European debut.
2003 Launches ViENUS Jean V-HIP; jeans with integrated control pants that lift up the buttocks.
2005 Becomes the first in the world to develop jeans made using GORE-TEX® WIND STOPPER®; a fabric that is windproof and breathable.
2006 Launches "PREMIA JEANS"; a new standard of jeans made for 51 different body shapes.
2007 The hit series SEN SK makes a debut in Europe, the U.S. and Australia.
2008 EDWIN's greatest model, the Vintage collection, is simultaneously released worldwide.
EDWIN DENIM GALAXY NIPPORI opens, boasting the largest floor area in Tokyo (12,454 sq ft).
2009 Releases thermal jeans and tops series "BODY FIRE" and wind-proof jeans "WILD FIRE"
2010 Establishes EDWIN Asia Holdings in Hong Kong and EDWIN China in Shanghai, China.
